The 2023 Defence Seaworthiness Conference is hosted by Defence Seaworthiness Regulator, RADM Rachel Durbin CSC.
As an island nation, Australia is dependent on its sea lines of communication above, on and below the oceans to maintain its current economic and social prosperity. Increasing competition and geo political tensions in the Indo Pacific region require constant innovation and the exploitation of emerging technology to maintain a capability edge in the Maritime Domain. This is critical in order to shape the nature of diplomacy in our region, deter any potential aggressors from taking action and if required to respond decisively in defence of Australia’s interests.
At the 2023 Defence Seaworthiness Conference you will hear from key note speakers who will share their respective experiences in how they are contributing to maintain this capability edge in an ever challenging environment. In particular, the conference is designed to challenge your views on the role of regulation as a capability enabler where emerging technologies exist in the absence of legislative frameworks and where the definition of what constitutes a warship is becoming increasingly difficult to define.
Hence the theme for this year’s Seaworthiness conference is "Seaworthiness in a complex eco-system"
The
conference will be delivered as a predominately virtual event with limited
